About

What are public lands?

Public Lands are lands set aside for us, the people! According to indivisible.us,“Public lands are land held in trust for the public by some level of government, city, county, state, or federal.”

Some public lands are parks or forests, others as rivers, historical areas, or habitats.

Why Should We Care?

Because Public lands need to be protected! Public lands allow us to do all of our favorite activities like skiing, camping, fishing, and hiking. If we don't fight for them, they may soon be gone.

According to Wilderness.org " Right now, a movement of land grab extremists is mobilizing across the West to dismantle America's system of protected lands so that large swaths can be sold to oil, mining and logging companies. To do this, they are working to enact laws that require Congress to give millions of acres of public lands over to the states. Once in state hands, those lands can be sold without our consent."

“ … Once our natural splendor is destroyed, it can never be recaptured. And once man can no longer walk with beauty or wonder at nature, his spirit will wither and his sustenance be wasted.”

- Lyndon B. Johnson
President of the United States
